Kidapawan's Fruit Festival

Kidapawan City is my home town,these is where i grew up, and my beloved hometown is celebrating the FRUIT FESTIVAL every August where on this fruits is abundant,just a brief history of  Kidapawan, it become a city on the 12th of February, 1998. It is situated southeast of Cotabato Province. Hailed as “A Spring in the Highlands”, the word “Kidapawan” came from Manobo’s “tida”, meaning spring, and “pawan”, that means highland.,and it si where Mount Apo, known to be the county’s highest peak, and a favorite tourist destination during summer specially for mountain climbers.
Kidapawan city- the City of Fruits, celebrates Festival, the festival of fruits. Starting the celebration is the Fruit Float Parade, one of the highlights of the week-long festival.the highlights of the Fruit Festival is well-known for its “eat-all-you-can” event called the Fruit where participants can truly enjoy feasting on variety of succulent fruits such as durian, mangosteen, banana, rambutan, lanzones, to name a few, on a 3-kilometer stretch in the city plaza. At the sound of the siren, people had mouthful of fruits, and the tables full of tons of fruits are emptied in an hour, events included in the  celebration of  Fest  are the street dancing competition, fruit show contest or fruit arrangement, fruit eating contest, film showing, cultural shows.
This celebration is the town's tribute  to their abundant harvest.
Kidapawan city is called the city of highland springs because there are more that five hot springs and water falls that can be found in this small town yet rich of natural resources.
